Kathy Martin is an associate professor and Director of the Professional Doctor of Physical Therapy program. Dr. Martin teaches the pediatric component of the curriculum in the professional program.
She has a broad clinical background that includes outpatient orthopedics, sports medicine, geriatrics, home health and pediatrics with an emphasis on early intervention (0-3 years).
Dr. Martin published a case study on the use of hippotherapy (therapy on horseback) with a child with cerebral palsy. She is also a member of the APTA Pediatric section and a retired member of NATA. Her research interests include pediatric orthotics and children with hypotonia.
Kathy was awarded the 2008 Fran Ekstam Award from the Indiana Chapter of the American Physical Therapy Association; this is the highest award the INAPTA gives. She has also been re-elected to a second three-year term on the APTA Section on Pediatrics Board of Directors. She practices part-time at Riley Hospital for Children with the Inpatient rehab team and has been an invited speaker at several national and regional conferences on pediatric orthoses.
